Interlopers on the Swan Plant...

While photographing yesterday's Monarch Caterpillar I noticed that one part of one of the Swan Plants were covered in these yellow aphids...
I googled and was told that it is common on the milk weed.. and as you can not spray with the usual bug killers as it will damage the eggs and caterpillars and butterfly's ... But a spray with a 5% milk and 95% water can be effective..
Well I have done it so we will wait and see what happens...
Yuck !! what horrible little monsters -- aphids do so much damage to the plant -- I had a lot f problems with aphids when I had lupins in the garden - I have used the milk and water spray ,but I find covering them in foamy solution of washing up liquid seems to do the trick !!

There's hundreds of the little beggars! Hopefully you can thin them out! Great detail in the image though.

@dide If the milk mix does not work I will resort to the digit method...

It's amazing how nature gives both the beautiful and the ugly, the good and the bad, a chance to compete and survive!

I'm convinced aphids would run the world if we didn't hold them at bay. They can strip my miniature roses in one afternoon. This is an awesome close up! Beautiful, even if it is bugs!

Great focus, light, details

nice macro of the little pests. We use Neam oil as an organic solution, but not sure how that would affect the butterflies and caterpillars. I will have to try the milk and water.
