Today I have spent a very hot day 'Lake Side' at the North Island Secondary School Champs at Lake Karapiro ( Cambridge NZ) .. This is my Grandaughter Taryn who just won her heat in the Under 17 Singles.. She was racing an age group up from her usual as the 'turn around' between her doubles race and her U 16 race was to hard to do .. so she was racing against girls some 2 years older than herself.. she was rowing 3rd to about 500 mtres from the end and she seem to find another gear and she ended up by winning 2 lengths ahead ... Love the little fist pump she gave at the end ... On to a 'A' final on Sunday ...
Well done Taryn, she is a great rower! All that training paying off! How exciting for you to see that! I have been on a boat on that Lake, one of those pleasure double decker boats! It was lovely. I remember there was a kids trading or camping place there, Jo went with some girls once looking after them.
@happypat Yes it is a very busy place on Regatta weekends the kids are all camping and the club has a great set up with full kitchen facilities and are very well fed over the 4 days they are there...
