A Rare Visitor to Chicago: Broad-Billed Hummingbird
It's huge news in the birding circles -- and even in the general community that we have a rare visitor. So I set my alarm for 6:30, got to the park around 7:15, and stood and stared at a tree where we had seen the bird the day before, 7:44am, this beauty showed up for a minute or less, but then reappeared a little while later for a couple of minutes. We heard that on the previous day, the bird had only appeared at 7:30, 2, and 5 so we felt lucky the hummer cooperated this morning. @pattyp was with me at 2 then and now she's a new member of 365.
