Filled with posters, mostly signed by the book creators. The photographic one in the front of the International Youth LIbrary was given to me at the end of my five-month fellowship stay in 2008 and this library often features in my photos over the years.
I just realized that the one on the floor needs to be hung . . . it came from my husband's office. The framed posters of the covers of my own books are on the left so cannot be seen here but I know they are there :)
I love the feeling of being immersed in youth literature as my eye travels down the hallway. Even the 'in progress' of the one to be hung conveys the organic sense of a living library.
This brings back such wonderful memories! I poured over so many of these framed posters in the little allotted time we had while visiting you...I recall photographing some of them individually... It was a remarkable sight, and how much more meaningful it must be to you to relate to every piece hanging here! Once more, THANK YOU for sharing! (Will we perhaps get to see the sweet little illustration of you that is across the living room?)
@taffy -- thanks for helping me pick the right photo! I especially appreciate your comment on the "organic nature" -- ha, if you could only see the hallway i my house right now. @newbank -- thank you -- it represents many, many friendships and books in my life. @northy -- thank you. I am working on the "big picture" photo you suggested. If only the library wasn't such a huge mess right now! Maybe by the end of the month we can build up to it being cleaner. @Weezilou -- that was such a special time together, so many of us 365ers chatting, lunching, and photographing. hmm . . . as for that illustration in the living room, it's not technically part of the home library so probably not this month but you give me an idea for a future photo since I'm sure I'll be looking for ideas as these months drag out! @sailingmusic thank you! These are precious mementos of times spent with various books and their creators.
This is fab, my kind of hallway! That “driven to read” poster remind me of “Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus!” My son loved that story. Is it taken from that?
So many lovely memories Of our time together! Your library made such an impression on me I had to tell all my friends and family about it. Your hall way is full of such fabulous art!
