In the Belmont garden, I found this delightful summer house overlooking the Rappahannock River. Belmont is a plantation house built in the 1790s in Falmouth, Virginia. It is best known today as the house and art studio of Gari Melchers, an American naturalist and impressionist painter.
Nice perspective, as if you're peering in while the person that occupied the chair is taking a break. The room itself is beautifully captured, especially the one empty pane of glass. It looks like a place where a person would go to reflect, refresh intellectual batteries, conceive a new project. Well done!
@lauriehiggins I agree, Laurie. I arrived here just as they were closing, but they let me in to take photos. I plan to return when I can dawdle a bit more and see the artwork of Gari Melchers.
