I never turned my camera on today. I was up at 5:20am for swimming, did errands, vacuumed drywall dust for 4.5 hours (I hope I can stand up straight tomorrow) and then had to play chauffeur for soccer and swim practice. Oh ya, I also went to high school orientation night with my daughter. She moves up to the "big" school next year. I saw this shot pass by on my screen saver and thought I'd share it. I tried to touch it up a bit and applied the polaroid frame using Picmonkey. It is one of my all time favourite photos. It was taken by my grandpa about 39 years ago. I know this because my little sister turns 40 this August and that's her standing. I'm the one with my fingers in my mouth. My middle sister was just to the right of me but she was kind of cut off so I cropped her out (sorry Tracy). My nana is laughing with us. It was her china cabinet keys I photographed a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea what we are laughing at but I love how happy we are. I lived with my Nana for two years while I went to University in Victoria. She died two months before I eloped and a year before I got my degree. I think of her often and miss her still.
So fun to look back! I've been putting together a slide show for my 18 year old's graduation and I just love looking through all of the old ones. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing this very atmospheric pic. Such happy nostalgic feeling, real emotions. I loved your story too. It´s so great to be allowed to have a sneak peek in your life. This pic is really pleasing to look, it somehow makes me very happy and nostalgic too...it brings back some of my own memories, weird isin´t it.
@anazad511@happypat We were engaged and were going to go to hawaii with close family in a year but we decided we didn't want to wait. We'd already been together five years (since grade 11) so we surprised everyone and eloped. We had a big party reception a month later. Our families were fine with it. I planned the elopement while living in Victoria with my nana while going to university. So many times I wanted to tell her but then we decided we'd drive to her house after the event and she would be the first person we told. I left for home to do my teaching practicum and a week later she died suddenly from a stroke (she was 82). We got married two months later.
What a very special shot Kim. My grandparents have all been dead for many years, but I think of them all so often. They are special people, and I only have to look at the relationship between my kids and Rebecca's parents to see that.
Love this cheerful photo!
