My daughter during the breast stroke portion of the 200 IM (individual medley) this morning. She took 1.40 seconds off her time. This was her first time racing in an outdoor pool.
Love the effect! Did she like the outdoor pool? An outdoor competitive swimming pool and diving pool has just opened in San Antonio, awesome stadium for the swimming.
@sianipops I think she did but it was breezy and cool (although very sunny). She got best times on both her races but many of girls added time. There's an indie and outdoor pool so they are alternating boy/girl over the four days. She'll be inside tomorrow and then back out on Sunday. She ranked fourth in the 100 breast that day so I'm hoping the positive outdoor vibe will continue.
@kwind awesome results. How long have your kids been swimming? We have just finished summer league ( its a very short season) and I'm finding as mine get older watching the older kids with beautiful strokes is like watching art and when its a heated race to the finish it is so exciting - yep I'm a swim mom :)
@sianipops Kennedy started in grade one so this is the end of her 8th season. She's been competitive the last five years. My son started five years ago. Our season is long... And getting longer has they get better. It starts the beginning of September and will end for Kennedy the last week of July after nationals. My son's ended a couple of weeks ago even though it should have been this weekend. He was qualified but has a sore shoulder so skipped this meet. I agree that the older swimmers are amazing to watch. How long have your kids been swimming?
@4umfreak I find indoor shots really tricky but now that I have a better camera and lens, I'm much more successful. I probably keep 1 of every 10 shots.
@kwind gosh 8 years! And then you ask me and while not as competitively as yours they have been doing summer league swim for 8 or 9 years. Erin has done high school swim for last 2 years and Gareth will be joining her in the fall, that season is September thru Feb. Erin has been asked/told & cajoled to do year round but she says No thanks, just doesn't have the time. She loves to swim and it gives her great exercise and decompression time but her school work load is heavy. Now if they told her all she had to swim was freestyle she might think about it a bit longer.
This is a link to the new pool - it is being hyped as an international venue so maybe one day your kids might swim there. Still don't understand the big stadium risers for the swimming pool and then just the small seating for the dive pool? http://www.teamunify.com/SubTabGeneric.jsp?team=stnisd&_stabid_=83041
This looks so fantastic Kim, your pov and timing was absolutely perfect, and the editing choice is fantastic! A great sense of action here with that water splash too! Fav!
Having been a competitive swimmer for 15 years, this photograph represents every swimmer. I LOVE the fact that its a silhouette as it makes the swimmer genderless. A favorite of mine.
Congrats on the TT with this! I thought I had faved it,but I think I saw it on my phone, and was out at dinner or something, and closed the site to eat! Fav and congrats again on the TT!
Congrats... I've just seen it on the PP. :)
