Born to Read

Feature-4-Feb Words of the day: Books

I took this the other day as I knew I'd be at a swim meet all weekend. It's a small collection of my picture books. I teach part time in a grade 2/3 class and I always read a book to them each day I'm there. The marble apple in the shot was a gift from a student probably 15 years ago.

Thank you for all your comments and fav's on yesterday's rust photos. Welcome to all my new followers. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my work. Rather than write individual thank you's, I like to view and comment on your images. I can't wait to check your stuff out. Have a great day everyone...I'm off to the pool now!

Here's my main album shot from today...

This is just beautiful. It's inspiring -- I have no idea how you did this in the composing side. I love how the edges just fade off into the background. And the little reflection is a wonderful touch. A fav!

@taffy Thank you, Taffy. I piled the books up on my dining room table with the window behind. The apple acted as a book end and there was an ugly planter on the other side. I pushed the "born to read" book ahead and lined up all the others. Most of the white just came from the window. I had the f number low to get the dof. I had the camera sitting on the tablle. Afterwards, I cropped out the ugly planter and applied a white vignette, as the books weren't completely straight and I thought it made it look like the left side went on and on.

The blown out exposure works really well with the color of the books, and I love the selective focus on the "Born to Read"

@kwind I'm a part-time teaching assistant in the village lower school. It's so small we have 2 year groups to a class - I work mostly with year 1 & 2, (age 5-6-7) and do French and Literacy with year 3 & 4 (age 7-8-9). I have a similar collection of books for story time though none of them the same titles from what I can see :)
