Almost on the southern escarpment of the Cotswold Hills and you have this wonderful view looking South West to the mouth of the River Severn and beyond is the open sea.
You can see the Severn Suspension Bridge crossing in the mist and this is the main access into Wales. Building started in 1963 and finally opened by the Queen in 1966. Now look closely to the left of this bridge and you can just make out the newer 2nd crossing open in 1996.
I love the way that you have to pay a toll to get into Wales, but nothing to pay when you escape back into England - I'll say no more but check the maps and you will see these famous bridges. View with the black background.
been over it many times ,well both actually and my father in law used to tell a story involving seven male passengers and a Hillman Imp needing to be pushed off the bridge when it overheated (as Imps did )
Cool shot. Your story reminds me of the Confederation Bridge spanning Prince Edward Island and the mainland. It's free on the way to the Island but you have to pay to get off. LOL
