I know you won't be interested, but I thought I was going to die this lunchtime. Went to one of the highest points in the area to find a geocache and take today's picture. I had only walked a couple of 100 yards and it was so bitterly cold and windy I couldn't feel my hands, face or breath properly. Although I got to the remote place where I was aiming for, I started getting chest pains and my hole body was frozen - I gave up and made my way back to my car and sanctuary.
So today is one I took before when I walked along the Gloucester to Sharpness canal and dreamed of living on one of these barges. Just untying the ropes and travelling to another spot for a few day's, like a waterway gypsy.
Then I thought about my exploits of lunchtime and being so pleased to get back to the comforts of my warm home, think I will leave a life on the water to the younger ones. There is one thing certain, if my family found out where I went today I will be grounded again, and I wasn't injured.
So glad you were okay! Maybe a warning to be careful. Do you always let someone know where you're going, or maybe leave a note. We want all your stories to have happy endings!
Yes. Living on a canal boat in this weather would not be fun. Glad you survived today's temperatures. Taking pics this am was very painful without gloves, but throwing the ball for Sprox certainly warmed me up.
Okay, that's it! No more hiking in the bitter cold! I expect to see nice captures from in and around your home until better weather! Seriously, take care! And this is a lovely water capture.
Yes your barge is a baby compared to my ferry carrying 400 people at a time across the harbor. Be careful with your get caching exploits. Glad to hear that todays had a happy ending.
After reading everyone'else's barrage on you to behave yourself, I won't add to them - except take care - we love your stories :) And no, don't go and live on the barge either!!
Oh my! You had quite an adventure!! Isn't there a rule about not to go geocaching alone or at least let a friend know the coordinates? You're braver than I! Glad that you're home! Please take care of yourself.
Yes thats one long boat!! I really felt the cold here this week at Disc Golf league, we had it all snow sleet wind and rain!! I now feel warm looking at the water and green trees in this shot!!
I'm looking forward to following you. After looking at your 365 pics and immensely enjoying them I'm looking forrward to your delightful comments explaining them!
This looks a particularly long barge - I would not fancy steering that
