I'm running late today as I've just had a visitor who was recording me putting voice-overs on a video for my football club. Think I would have done better doing voice-overs for "Shaun the Sheep", Baaaa,
My photograph today is up on the Cotswold Hills near my home, there are many small villages that have there own little shop. These are important, especially during the Winter as it's sometimes difficult to get down to the towns in the valleys below.
They are often like this one in the village of Amberley, where many years ago someone open for business in their front room, selling everything but the kitchen sink. Everyone new everyone else in the village and the shop became the heart of the community.
Today this shop still here, and will sell all those things you might run out of like like milk, bread eggs etc. It has even become the village Post Office with the postbox and telephone just outside. Mind you if 2 people get inside the shop it's full, or in my case I could fill it without swinging the proverbial cat around.
lovely shot and nice to hear the history of this shop. I'm glad it's still going as so many little shops have not survived due to the advent of supermarkets! Btw Fav
Wonderful to have this village shop and the telephone box looks very nice too! I think it's very sad that so many villages have lost their shop or their pub.
Great shot, and agree with supporting our local community businesses & cottage industries. There's nothing that Tesc'burys could do with that building - hurrah!
Wonderful shop in our village. It used to be post office only, I think until early fifties. There were two other shops and a Bakery in Amberley, also a funny little sweet shop in Pinfarthings
It's wonderful that your little community support the locals allowing them to continue to serve others. That's pretty much what life is all about. Excellent capture and commentary. FAV
