I sometime wonder if people really think about the signs they put up. This is a fine example of a stupid sign near one of our local old mills.
You will notice that part of the river goes through the grill and enters a very dark long tunnel that goes under the mill. Who in there right mind is going to risk there life by going into what would be a watery grave.
Now for a technical bit, if you remove the grill and slid in a sold steel plate the water level will rise, the water will then start going down those 2 pipes on the right, driving some of the machinery at the mill. That's what you call industrious.
Going back to the silly sign, there is no way I would put my PRIVATES down there anyway (Wink, Wink)
Seems a silly sign to sensible people..... but there are a lot of silly people out there too !
