This bee may have had liftoff but it was another problem around the home this week. I was sitting on the patio when I noticed a great deal of activity near the fascia board of my kitchen flat roof.
Bees were coming and going out of this small hole and I realised that they must have made a nest between the flat roof and the kitchen ceiling. Now I love nature and I would hurt anything, but I object to sharing my roof (men excluded) with anything else these days.
A quick phonecall to big Brother Alan, he lives just along the road, and he galloped to my rescue with a spray can of wasp/bee repellent. A quick spray and another in the evening and the bees have buzzed off.
So this week I've put pay to a pigeon and now bees, I wonder what's next, bats in the belfry.
Does the spray kill the bees or just deter them because we have bees nesting in our dormer window in the bedroom but I don't want to kill them because bees are declining and without bees, we shall have no food!
@rosiekind Rosie, I've just been told off by my Niece who spotted the picture. She told me I should have left them as they would be gone in August. It doesn't kill them but they don't like the smell so they go away. She commented that they don't do any harm to humans like wasps.
tend to agree with you, I too hate sharing my roof with others that are not family. Though I would hate to hurt any other creature for seeking shelter. Well done that Big Brother came to your rescue.
Great capture, love the textures of the wall
