Most people know me as Lady Magpie and you know that magpies collect little shinny things, well so do I. I love my silver but just as much I love this early Doulton Lambeth Pottery.
Doulton Lambeth was a famous London Pottery next to the River Thames, surprisingly my Father was born in Lambeth as well just 100 yards from there factory.
The period I collect is 1860 to 1920 and these are a small part of my collection. The lower shelf I recently purchased from an auction house in Plymouth, Devon and the way it got home was quite complicated.
The auction was on a Wednesday and I sat in front of my PC winning these items live.. Fortunately, my Nieces husband worked quite near to the auction house and was able to pick them up and take them back to his home in Liskeard, Cornwall. My late Sister Mo's husband was visiting his daughter at the weekend and brought them back with him, calling in for a coffee. It couldn't have worked out any better and saved me a fortune in postal costs
What an amazing collection! Very well captured (and purchased) I love an auction - thankfully, I don't attend many anymore - they are quite expensive for me, as I can't resist beautiful items like these!
This pottery is new to me Heather and I love it. Wonderful shapes, colours and designs. Great photograph and I'm impressed with the standard of your dusting!
