It's been a hectic day but I was able to go to my local supermarket for some shopping. Now I read everything to make sure I get the best deal, doing all the calculations in my head.
I was disgusted when I saw shelves of ice-cream labelled as this, look you can buy 1 box for £1.50 but there is a great deal where you can have 2 boxes for just £3.00 - that's identical but can make people buy two boxes as they think they've got a bargain. .
I called over an assistant and said can you tell me what's wrong with this. He looked at me with a bit of a surprise and gave the answer, "Sainsbury's don't make the packaging", sorry what difference does that make I said, "Don't know".he replied.
So be warned, always check what you're buying, IS IT A DEAL OR NOT. Photograph taken with my mobile phone. View with the dark background.
But they do make the best pre made pizza bases that mean we make our own pizzas and get my fussy 3 year old to get veg he wouldn't eat normally because it's on a pizza.. Thanks to sainsbury pizza bases I make pizzas hubby says are the best he's eaten! But yes a diddle....more of a diddle is the luxurious word....how can 4 for 1.50 be luxurious?
Well spotted! I subscribe to Consumer Reports magazine. In the back of each issue, they post photos just like this to warn and amuse the readers. If you have that or something similar in your area you should submit it!
I can see myself, in a hurry, eyes looking at the 2 for 3 and going for it without looking at the shelf sticker. What a silly way to market your product as it certainly would turn me away from buying.
You certainly have to be a canny shopper nowadays: I always have to check in Tesco Express where often items are labelled up as offers and then I get charged full price at the till. (I think the computer was once blamed....)
it is a shame that Sainsbury's are scamming people like this. I must admit I usually check things out to make sure I am getting a bargain. It is also scandelous that the supermarkets are not paying a fair price for milk and the farmers have been drawing this to the public's attention. I always buy Cravendale for that reason because they give the farmers a proper payment for their milk. When all set and done, it's the farmers who do all the hard work!
Huh well pointed out,I have a real beef with sell by dates that should often read , don't eat me after tomorrow !
I guess they could say here it's true 2 for £3 well mind games at its worst
I've seen special offers in store where buying two of the original was cheaper than buying the two on special offer. You need to check quantities as well. There is sometimes less in the offer. I hate shopping and having to play mind games with the store doesn't help!
I has been a proven fact that if you put a two-fer price on it, its sells. Lady that we knew from our days of doing Christmas Bazaars, told us of working in a department store. A particular item wasn't selling at the individual price, so she marked them with a two-fer price (single times two) and the sales increased. Go figure.
