A Practical River Crossing. by ladymagpie

A Practical River Crossing.

The weather is still shocking and I'm starting to quack like a duck, don't feed me bread. I have had to dig into my spare pictures and this is one I took whist out geocaching.

It's a lovely river crossing with a footbridge that also includes sluice gates that can be opened and closed depending on whether the river is flooding. Interesting to note that the word sluice comes from the dutch word "Sluis" meaning water channel controlled at it's head by a gate.

Thank you for all your comments yesterday, especially about my senior position as a women. It was hard, especially in Texas where the men didn't like me telling them what to do. For those who commented on what a good life I had travelling parts of the world, often all I saw was an airport, hotel, factory and an airport again.
Love your composition here and also the great textures. Nicely captured!

I like your 'sluis', Heather. We have a city in the Dutch province Of Zeeland that has the same name.

Interesting photo and I love your stories too. Quacking like a duck is only the first stage, hope you are not getting webbed feet too.
