The Weighbridge Inn. by ladymagpie

The Weighbridge Inn.

Another picture taken yesterday and this is what was behind me when I took those cottages yesterday. Whilst I think about it, some of those cottages were very old and new ones were added between them.

The Weighbridge Inn is a very popular pub but more for their food than the drink. It was been here since the 17th century and was on an old pack horse trail. The landlord took the tolls as well as worked the weighbridge for charges.

The pub today is famous for it's menu and they serve what is known as 2 in 1 pies. This could be succulent, lean beef slowly braised in beer and stock with oregano and marjoram on one side of the bowl and tender cauliflower in a rich mature cheddar cheese sauce oozing on the other. The recipes are a guarded secret and only passed down through the years from Landlord to Landlord.

Now I've made your mouth water can I thank you all for your comments, it's Saturday again and I will get back to later in the evening after the football match.
The food sounds delicious. A super shot.

It has to be fully pastry enclosed to be a proper pie for me. I'm very passionate on that subject! 😄
