Flower Power. by ladymagpie

Flower Power.

Well the sun has come out and it's a wonderful Spring day, I have stopped coughing and all is wonderful in the world to me. This nice weather has brought the pretty things into my photography and this is a very beautiful flower.

As with all my pictures there has to be a story behind it and this flower is no different. I've had it for many years and it has never let me down. It's been watered and well looked after.

It actually came to me all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah some years ago when a relative of my late Sister's Husband came over to visit. My Sister brought him down to visit me as we had talked on both the internet and the phone, well I don't get to talk to young men very often, or even get flowers from them.

I hope you all love my pretty flower that I have looked after and nurtured, one that has come so far. It does have one other little secret that I have withheld from you - it's just plastic, but it's the thought that counts and I do water it under the tap to wash the dust off.

Thank you for all you comments and Fav's for the pigeon which didn't end up in a pie. Thanks to you all my picture made the PP page.
I kinda guessed it was plastic (frayed edge on the petal) but I just loved the story ;-D

Unfortunately I too noticed the frayed edges but it was a lovely story and it's a excellent shot. It's a very thoughtful gift and you've taken good care of it because the colour so bright. Thanx for the smile Heather.

Lovely shot and a great story. I find that plastic flowers work so well, especially in my house. I always seem to kill them off if they are real.

I had to take a look at this flower after reading today's comments! While I was reading the story the thought went through my head specially after going through customs in NZ that you would never be allowed anything growing into some countries, glad to read the end of the story!

I love the story and I wasn't completely fooled. The leaf was the giveaway, definitely not the flower.
