Homes across a Smoke filled Valley

I was up on the hillsides hoping for a lovely view when suddenly someone light a bonfire down in the valley. Rather than discard the photograph I thought it was quite interesting and shows how the smoke slowly drifts away.

I'm not sure about other countries, but there are rules around lighting bonfires in the UK. They have caused many disputes from neighbours as the smoke and debris blow across adjoining homes, perhaps the washing's out or the neighbour has health problems.

So as it's Sunday we can accept a bonfire as long as your not burning household waste or lighting it near a roadside which is dangerous. I'll stick to a camp fire where I can cook my sausages. View with the dark surround if you have time

Thank you for all your comments and FAV's recently.
Just beautiful countryside - the kind where you take long walks. And your camera.

We can only burn certain times of the year and some towns nearby have banned it altogether! Lovely country side shot!

Here it depends on how dry it is. If it gets to dry a fire ban is usually put into effect

Very pretty hillside & this area must look quite different when all the leaves are out! Love the smell of bonfires!

Sure you were not puffing on a Woodbine or a menthol cigarette

Great view in spite of the smoke.

Lovely strong greens...must be the result of all the rain we've had. So, good luck to the bonfire stoker with all that damp wood!

This is very effective. I like it.

Love the contrast of the dark trees with the green grass - and the smoke looks a bit like a fog is rolling in - Fav for me.

The smoke made for a most interesting photo. I'm glad you decided to post it.

Works wonderfully well - the smoke makes it different and gives an interesting effect

The smoke adds something to the shot. Well composed.

very pretty

Interesting shot. Good job it didn't get out of control with all those trees. We have rules here too, but unfortunately we get quite a lot of lunatics who light fires deliberately and cause serious bushfires.

I think the smoke makes it interesting and it;s still a beautiful view.
