In the words of Monty Python, now for something completely different. The weather has been shocking today, in fact not the weather for wondering around my old home town, I did pop out to a local supermarket though.
Now this is not the sort of thing for an elderly 73 year old lady to be confronted with, these two Robber Flies were having hanky-panky on my garage door when I went to get my car out. They were active in broad daylight, not a care in the world or worried what others might think.
I tried to shield my eyes as not to be to embarrassed, but they were still at it when I closed the garage door, I was glad to get in my car and go off to the shop. Thankfully they had disappeared an hour later when I got home.
Now I'm no expert on flies or fly habits, but you could almost say there's no flies on Lady Magpie as I looked up the information on the internet. I wonder why they are called Robber Flies, they didn't have masks to start with, but they do wait to ambush other insects.
So there you go and two things you've learnt today, the reason they are called Robber Flies, and heather needs to wash her garage door down, just look at it.
