With it being my Birthday yesterday, and thank you all for your kind comments, I thought I would look at other people’s births in past history. I have been able to combine two hobbies that keep me busy, those being collecting Doulton Lambeth Christening Mugs and also Genealogy.
These mugs date from 1889 for Dorothy Herapath to 1924 and Mary Rush, interestingly she was born on my birthday. From these mugs I research their family history and also obtain a copy of the birth certificate for the mug owner.
It can take weeks to work them out but keeps my brain working, and it is also interesting to see what the family did through censuses and birth certificates. I have also research my own family’s history and was fascinated to find my Grandfather on my Father's side was a blacksmith. Even more history back to the early 17th century showed that ever Father, going backwards were blacksmiths and I was also able to go and find the old blacksmiths shop in a small village in Wiltshire that my decedents lived.
So there you go, collecting and studying past family histories should indicate to you, that even in my old age I’m really no mug.
How lovely to complete the history of the mugs.
My ancestors on my fathers side were all lighthouse keepers . It’s so interesting to research your family history.
