Tonight we joined friends for a delicious dinner at Bonge’s Tavern. Yes, it looks like a hole-in-the-wall place, but the food is fantastic. It sits in the middle of nowhere at least a half hour drive outside of the city, but people flock to it for both the food and the charm. It’s so busy that people bring their own beverages and tailgate in the parking lot while waiting. You can’t make reservations so you have to arrive early and hope you get a table. If you go, you have to try the Perkinsville Pork Tenderloin. I love the bright Red Gold tomato sign on the side. Red Gold brand tomato products are produced right here in the Hoosier State. http://bongestavern.com/Home.html
Great shot of true blue Americana! These kinds of places are always the best places to eat! And I'm glad to know that the Red Gold brand is pure American- I try to buy American as much as possible.
I faved this because of the cool shot and it is one of my favorite places to eat. It is so cool to have you on here and we look at each others pictures and say " I have been there" I love their cold salad wedge with blue cheese dressing.
@sarasdadandmom I could sit and eat the wedge salad all day long! I, too, have enjoyed following you both because of the familiar and the unfamiliar. I've discovered things about my own hometown I didn't know.
@mrssmith This place is a little expensive and has professional chef quality food. The tenderloin is Parmesan crusted with a little lemon drizzles over it. I think the contrast of the food and the venue is fun.
Sounds like a fabulous restaurant. That Parmesan encrusted tenderloin and a good wedge salad has my mouth watering just thinking about them. Love the exterior character of the place.
