These are the blossoms on our trees in the back yard.
I think they are beautiful! They smell like nectar & when the birds feed, their perfume fills the house - it is sometimes sickly sweet.
We have three of these trees that are about 60 feet high.
The rainbow lorikeets come in their dozens to feed on the blossoms every day - the noise is terrible at times as they fight for their share:) http://www.lanerealty.com.au/images/Rainbows3.jpg
See below for description of the tree - I did not know that it is classed as a weed in some parts of Australia.
The flowers look quite interesting and the other picture of the birds..so colorful. I would be happy to see just one but a whole tree full..what a sight.
This is a lovely tree and a gorgeous photo of it. I saw it on the popular page by the way. Yes, it often happens that these native trees become weeds if they are taken out of their natural habitat. The Cootamundra wattle is an example; it is becoming a real nuisance in the northern tablelands, where it was introduced. This one would look really lovely with the lorikeets.
This is beautiful and I love your description of the lorakeets in the brances and the terrible noise that they make. I think I can almost smell the blossoms and hear the birds.
