Allan being Awarded for His 45 year Support of the Surf Life Saving Society by the Governor of Queensland, Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley
Today Allan & I went to Government House in Brisbane.
Allan had been invited by Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley, the Governor of Qld, to receive an award for his support of The Surf Life Saving Society.
Allan has been supporting this group, financially for the past 45 years.
We had a lovely morning meeting with others who had also been invited.
Allan was presented with a painting called "Circle of Friends".
He is one of 16 people who have received this award.
After the presentation, we were invited for morning tea in the drawing room, where Her Excellency chatted with us informally.
I was not allowed to take photos there because of copyright laws.
This is Allan receiving his award & him outside the residence.
We couldn't have asked for a better day - it was a balmy - 24 deg, fine, warm & sunny with blue skies.
I was so proud to be there to share this occasion with Allan & that he was well enough to attend. (He had major hip surgery last Friday)
So I thought I'd share this moment with all of my friends on 365 too :)
Lois, that is so cool. Wouldn't they let you get in one of the pictures with Allan? What is the SlSS main goal? I love the residence ( I assume ) on the right.
