It's that time of the year again, our resident magpies are nesting.
You may remember last year we had to chop down a tree in our back yard that happened to have their nest & 2 chicks in it.
Well, mum magpie has been trying to gather anything she can for nesting material.
I threw her a coat hanger as her previous nest had 3 of them in it.
Talk about trying hard, she wanted to get that hanger in to a tree no matter how long it took her.
She was calling her mate to come help I'm sure, but she had to leave it in the end.
I will put it our each day & hope she can carry it.
She keeps going to the old nest that we put near the fence as if she wanted to use it, but it is too close to the ground.
Her chick from last year still hangs out with them.
Have a nice evening everyone, I will try to catch up with comments tomorrow :)
How interesting that you can follow her actions so closely each year...and a hanger in a nest...must be a pretty big nest....will go check out your other links to see what it looks like.
@digitalrn@cmt2812@hwy61 - thanks everyone! It is nice to follow these birds. They never attack us in the nesting season either. They seem to know we're their friends.
