So... besides converting to B&W, I decided to try and simplotake out a lot of distracting elements, to simplify the overall image. Key on the Church and reflection, and the symmetry of the two main boats
Besides the basic exposure / white balance / level, here's a rundown:
1) re-cropped so that the church door is centered
2) Cloned out the car at the right edge (and corresponding reflection)
3) Cloned out the light pole and power line (and corresponding reflections)
4) Cloned out the lines coming off the boat on the left (and corresponding reflections)
5) Converted to B&W, with associated "magic" including yellow filter to darken sky/water.
6) Added the frame effect, looking for the feel of an old polaroid photo
7) Added the dark grey line around it all, to ensure the frame is clear when viewed on white
lol, that's similar to my thoughts when I looked it and wondered what I would do. I was wondering about removing the other boat from the middle leaving the two fishing boats and maybe add some fishing nets or crab pots to recreate a fishing port. .
@shannejw - I thought about removing the leftmost boat (the one facing away) but I couldn't muster the energy. And probably don't have sufficient editing skills. I'd be interested to see the version you describe!
@gamelee - I didn't straighten the image, but I did tweak the perspective a small amount. I guess I should've checked level. But I'm done now, it is what it is!
