balance

I have always liked the subtle soft 'glow' of fresh eggs, and as there was some sunlight early this morning, I experimented to see if I could minimise shadow while still making the most of directional light.
I am not sure if it is preferable to have equal light from both sides for this type of shot or not. Happy to hear your thoughts.

Awesome - I would imagine that equal light might be better? Did you try changing it's direction? Either way, a really cool shot!

@kimmiesue I tried plenty, but this one with the highlight seemed the most appealing to my eye, but I am guessing that technically 'balanced' is what I should be working towards. It is certainly more difficult (impossible?) to achieve with my currrent equipment. :)

@ltodd Hi, if you use mirrors and/or white card to bounce the light back you can get an overall balance. I like shadows to be honest. If done right it gives it depth.

@pictureit thanks Paul - I had forgotten about using reflectors (DOH!). I thought the shots where the highlight was equal on both sides looked a little 'flatter', but I am wondering if (as a newbie) that is just the way I am 'looking' at it (if that makes sense ???) :)

I would never have thought to place an egg on two forks - very cool.
