This is the bird known as a 'Willie Wagtail' and is the size of a large wren. I stepped out of the car to photograph this one and he proceeded to fly around my head in an effort to scare me away from the nest that must have been in the trees somewhere nearby.
He (I assume this is a macho male?) squawked 'menacingly' for 5 minutes, at one point even landing on the ground next to me to try & stare me down!! :D
These birds are such common urban dwellers, for some reason I have never considered photographing them before, but they are quite cute. :)
