Another wonderful native terrestrial orchid. (can you guess it's common name??)
I have struggled for years to get the composition right for these guys that are as small as your thumbnail. I finally found one not in a clump of grass and shot from right on the ground. A few texture layers for this one today, but I am at last happy with a 'donkey' orchid.
Lyn I think with flowers its ok... they just dont want to see creatures great or small edited.. This is stunning... I dont know if i will ever get to submit into one, but it was great to go and see what happens :)
Wonderful Lyn, I like the way you hve presented this orchid, your texture layer enhances it. The Donkey Orchid in WA is more orange/yellow, I have never seen one this colour, it's beautiful.
@judithdeacon thanks Judith :) I know what you mean about the colours - when looking for this particular species I look for a 'banana' yellow which is quite different to the more common brighter yellow/brown orange here too. I am still trying to decide exactly which species this one is. I first became involved in photography through my interest in WA native orchids when I lived there & spent hours on my brothers farm that backed onto the Margaret River nature reserve.
@lyno thanks Lyn - it is a fine line between capturing accurately & making it something 'nice' to look at. Up until now I have focused on accuracy for these wonderful flowers, but had been wanting to take it one (artistic) step further, but aware that I should not go too far...if that makes sense. !! :)
