Oh I love this Lyn. Great processing, perfectly moody for this crow / raven / black bird!

Wonderful, striking image!

@kerosene thanks Caroline :) I think it is a juvenile Little Australian Raven, quite an amazing looking bird. They always 'seem' to look menacing to me.

@muriel @kandkids @thistle @blueberry1222 you are all so kind! I am enjoying learning more with every new one.

@taffy It is broadly the process used at http://www.dailytexture.com/tutorials.html The first video I watched was the one called 'Compositing and Textures' but if you are just starting out, perhaps start with 'How To Adjust A Portion Of Your Image Using A Texture' by Jai Johnson, or 'Why I use textures and other ramblings'. Her videos are not complicated or and she does not use a lot of fancy editing steps. I spend a lot of time getting the lighting right using a dodge & burn layer & paint with black & white paint on a separate layer ( good for when I make a mistake because I can paint the mistake out!). It sounds more complicated than it is - see http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-editing/dodge-burn/. It is pretty much the same as the lighten & darken brush in LR if you use that, but it can be more precise.

@taffy :-D - but remember I have had a very long time practicing, and a lot of duds along the way.... Did you see there were some free textures available? http://www.dailytexture.com/apps/search?q=free - you can change the colour of the grapes one pretty easily with a colour look up adjustment layer to get a lot of different looks. You can do the same with the Gemstone collection (free) http://www.dailytexture.com/mailing-list.html
