Late Lambs by maggiemae

Late Lambs

Across the road from us are green fields, used to have horses on them then the property was sold and refenced. The grass grew and suddenly flocks of sheep arrived and now we are seeing rather fat sheep become thinner!

Re: http://365project.org/maggiemae/365/2012-10-24 - my mother's journal
Mum has left York and its history, driven to Whitby and found lodgings at a boarding house. She discovered lots of walks around here and set off for Sneaton. They realised it was 12.30 and lunch would be served at 1pm so caught a passing bus back, just in time for a wash before the gong sounded! She said, "I'm sure that anyone could have an absolutely rippng holiday here, tennis, golf, swim and theatre and dancing at night"!
It seems to me, as I research the history, that the Danes had a lot to answer for- from the year 787 and onwards - destroyed a lot of buildings and played merry hell! I'm up to 19560 words now!
Just gorgeous. Lucky you to have such a delightful view.

@lwain Yes, Lindy - we are actually right on the town border - in fact last night there was a roudy group of young boys right outside and they were swearing and trying to fix a wheel on one of the cars! All in front of these wee lambies!

Cute lambs. Your mum had a great sense of humour - and sounds like she really enjoyed her time in the UK.

What a cute photo, Maggiemae. Love those babies with their Mom. I am behind in commenting but going back as I wanted to keep up with your transcribing of your Mom's diary. It is really interesting. I get a little lost but still find it wonderful what you are doing and about her travels and what she did back then. I am amazed at what you are able to read as it can be hard to read handwriting. So glad you are doing this.
