Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree by maggiemae

Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree

"I saw you and you saw me" Not the original words but fun. This huge tree was in the courtyard across from the restaurant where we were having lunch. It was an old building, once stables and now called The Stables.

Three good things:
1. Taking Ruby up to Timaru for her maintenance check - apart from the chain coming off now and then all was OK.
2. A 10 km ride back into Oamaru wasn't as nice as a country road - huge trucks racing 90km past you.
3. The mute button on the TV remote.
Love the complementary colors! Looks like a lovely day:-)

Pretty composition, and even though we're looking at a chestnut tree, the green and red give this shot a festive look.

Clever use of the window to frame your tree. Like the other details 'under' the tree.

Lovely shot Maggie.

What creative framing here -- literally using the red window. That's one impressive tree!

What a huge tree, it looks beautiful. The red and green colours have a Christmas feel. Like how the wheel is framed by that window pane.

You rode back on those main roads maggiemae......I honestly don't know how you dare....you drive so fast in NZ! That's ruch coming from me btw...I druve fast too! You have so many big wagons on your rather narrowish roads...it must have been a touch scary!
Chestnut trees are always a lovely shape......this one looks healthy unlike ours that have a bug. Beautifully framed!

@happypat Yes, its not going to be a usual ride - huge trucks and so close to on - as you say- our narrow roads. However it was exercise and also concentration - parked cars on the side opening their doors is a big problem!

@maggiemae something I am always conscious of...you can do serious damage opening a door on a cyclist!

Very lovely reds and greens here's The sound isn't working on our TV so no need for mute!
December 18th, 2014
@judithg Oh, why have a TV? I suppose its like looking at constant photographs!

Beautiful shot. Wonderful colors. Being passed by trucks going so fast is not my idea of fun. I hope you can stick to the quieter roads for your next ride.

Lovely view of that splendid chestnut tree through the frame of the window. No blacksmith beneath it, though.
December 20th, 2014
@tristansmum "the village smithy stands" No not here though there was a lot of horsey decorations and paraphernalia in the restaurant!
