Lavender Blue by maggiemae

Lavender Blue

Uninspired for the day, I found an idea from a book cover that I was reading. There was plenty of lavender to choose from and the sun was shining.

Three good things:
1. Got the lawns done and John took over after 1/2 hour. I looked out the window and he was stopped on the outside lawn talking to someone. That someone was a guy living along our road that asked if he was John Munro. Turned out he was in the Auckland motorbike shop in 1953 when John bought his first Mac Velocette! Small world, says John!
2. Bit lethargic today and didn't go for a bike ride. Didn't read my book, just aahed and oohed over the comments on my 'Another picnic"
3. Roast chicken with all the herbs from the garden.
Great light and colour.

What book are you reading maggiemae...that has to be my first question of course. Summer is for reading a book if you so feel like it.....lazy, hazy days of summer! Wonderful feel to this one.....textures & colour so inviting!

Meant to say John would be quite thrilled but I suppose he is used to the fame by now!

Very pretty - great lighting. You must be very down not to read a book!
January 2nd, 2015
@happypat The book is "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Clare Dowling. Set in Ireland. John loves fame!

Lovely composition and light -- love the rustic look of the basket - you should tag the basket with " jan15words " !!
January 2nd, 2015
You made it look all glowy. Love the song!
January 2nd, 2015
@beryl What's that tag, Beryl?
January 2nd, 2015
@amandal So do I - sang it as a child and am still singing it as an old, old, lady! lol!

@fugitivemoments I had a funny right eye that stung and hurt all day and it made me mad, Linda!
January 2nd, 2015
In the list of a word a day for Jan ( Extraordinary-r-January ) one of the words is -basket so you could tag this in your list of tags as - jan15 words , basket --Bulldog used to compile the words each month now another (forgotten her name ) compiles the monthly list !

@beryl Thanks Beryl - will do that - I would rather have had a trug than a basket though!

A very pretty composition that no one would have known wasn't your idea if you hadn't said!

A beautiful composition and a wonderful breath of summer for those of us living further north.Thank you Maggiemae. Enjoy your summer and you want to have a lazy day reading why not. I've decided I'm old enough to indulge myself in the occasional lazy day. In fact I'm so old if I don't I'll never get round to fitting any in!!!!
January 3rd, 2015
@thistle I have lazy days every day, Joyce! Refuse to get caught up in committees and sporting groups.

Lovely! I'm ready to grab my parasol and go for a stroll in the garden now.
January 3rd, 2015
such an interesting processing !
January 3rd, 2015
Very pretty - and so beautifully processed. Do you harvest your lavender for pot pouris etc? The flowers dry quite well too if pressed.
January 3rd, 2015
a very pretty shot maggie. Always partial to a nice wicker basket
January 3rd, 2015
@snaphappi No, Maggie - I think there is an abundance of lavender around in the area - even a lovely lavender farm with purple gates!
January 4th, 2015
@olivetreeann The perfect scene - you have to have a wide brimmed hat to go with this!
January 4th, 2015
@maggiemae Actually I do! It's a very elegant straw hat that my grandmother (Aunt Peggy) used to wear for her gardening. I will have to resurrect that this spring when I start going out to photograph on the trails again.
January 4th, 2015
@olivetreeann I had a perfect one for ages but it always blew off or turned inside out!

Very lovely shot, Maggie. It's so pretty and soft and delicate and and and ... well ... fav! I love lavender (body spray, body gel, air freshener, linen spray, fabric softener ... um, what else?).
January 4th, 2015
@prttblues Come to think of it from what you say, I remember its good for sleeping! Should put some under my pillow!
January 4th, 2015
Lovely, lovely shot of this lavender in the basket....love your POV, and the processing! What do you use to get that intense color?
January 4th, 2015
Just read some of the comments above....yes, lavender is very good for sleeping, and also I think for putting in among your woolen clothes to keep them from moths! I would love to go to a lavender farm to photograph these beauties!
January 4th, 2015
Just gorgeous...and the processing is so lovely! fav
January 5th, 2015
Beautiful arrangement and shot.
January 5th, 2015
I love your photo and your processing, Maggiemae. Lavendar is a favorite color of mine. FAV
January 5th, 2015
Great composition, like the way the lavender layed in the basket. Great textures from both. Are the opened flowers lavender too?
