Wind battered this coast making any effort to capture a photograph rather noisy and one had to stand very securely!
This is my really first of a bird actually flying (BAF! - it's really BIF) This bird was staying in one place against the fury of the wind but would dive for a fish only a few times! it was good to focus on it.
Three good things:
1. A great brunch at a small cafe down the highway - I had pea, pie, pud and found great difficulty in typing ‘pud” with auto correct being stubborn!
2. Bent our rule never to buy water - thought about a river, a toilet, a petrol station but also thought about 3. health!
Sadie (our Merc and GPS) took us safely through the difficulties of Christchurch roads still under renovation!
Good old Sadie....so reliable all your journey! She has done well! You are having a bit or rough weather but stunning turquoise water! I shall type pud......oh mine is behaving itself!
I love the roughness and sense of motion you captured in the sea, and the bird trying to fly against the wind, fav. Reminds of a winter wind storm/blizzard we had here years ago when I couldn't cross the street because the wind was pushing too hard against me--same with a large, powerful man who was also trying to cross. Downtown, they rigged up ropes for people to hang onto. I've known high winds since then, but none quite like that.
