An ordinary photo this time, of a not so ordinary bike! This is a replica of the bike within in the shell that was constructed for the film, "World's Fastest Indian". They gave it a run at the raceway and I did take a short video on this day when it ran well and very fast. Yesterday I took a video of the bike itself being run without the shell. https://youtu.be/jOncMEcbEVo
Three good things:
1. The rain and wind plus cold affected the whole day but I had a good raincoat. They cancelled several events.
2. A good coffee at the Cabbage Tree cafe with five family members. In no hurry as it was hailing outside!
3. Seeing John on two TV channels. He spoke well!
I hear the day was a great success - saw John on the telly. You must be world famous in Oamaru. Good shot of this interesting bike and the attention it is attracting.
I recognise the shape here......watched your video of the bike, very unusual position of the rider lying so,low over the bike. Went well when they got it all set. It sounds the worst possible weather even fir so called early summer!
Great capture! I just saw that movie on TV a couple weeks ago so it's interesting to see the actual bike! A friend just bought a brand new Indian
motorcycle and I got to be the passenger on the first ride. We didn't set ny land speed records!
Exciting! They had a whole Indian display at the car museum we went to recently. I took several shots and so many came out blurry- all me! The good thing is I can go back and take them again at some point- maybe when a grandson or two is in town. The cool thing was though as I was there a man came up and started talking to me and asked if I know anything about Indian bikes. I told him "not really" but that I was VERY distantly related to Burt Munro's son's wife. He was duly impressed!
Great capture - so much I interest in the bike! I loved your video - very clever! It brought back memories of the film which I loved - must watch it again! It must be wonderful for John with so many people so interested in his dad's great achievement!
Beautiful capture and a very interesting bike. I have seen the video and you did a great job in capturing the event. A difficult position for the biker to balance on that bike. I haven't seen the film but it must have been a hit.
