There was a ding dong at the door and a heavy box being delivered. John thought I was getting weaker as couldn’t carry the 15kg box to the table! There were all my books! I danced a jig until I realised that I had to wrap up some of them for overseas presents and get them posted immediately!
It mightn’t mean so much to others but it does to me! Just passing it on… my feeling of worth!
Three good things:
1. The Japanese and the Canadian parcels cost more in freight than they cost to buy - almost!
2. Google for the right recipe - stewed rhubarb needs orange peel and ginger in it!
3. Retired means being able to sleep till 8.30am especially when you have had a rotten night!… No real problem!
the cheapest book is at $19 canadian, slightly used and ships from UK. how in heaven's name could it be slightly used already? this is a new book! :-) new one is out of stock for $25 canadian. i placed my order just the same.
Congratulations on being a published author! The cover is beautiful and enticing...makes one want to open the book and get started reading this wonderful adventure.
I can not believe it! I just ordered mine and then here is the picture of it! You should have had it shipped straight to the recipient from the publisher! It might have been cheaper!
Your Mum's travels are great. How she managed to drive a car after only a few lessons and she did see a lot. Am enjoying reading it as an,ebook but it is nicer to hold a book in ones hand
That's definite,y the best being retired.....I love to go back to bed with a cup of tea & the electric blanket on if I have no guests in. This looks a very exciting box........you must have been so keen to get it opened up! Such a lovely cover too, very inviting to read! Can't wait to pick mine up next year. There's not many can say they have a published book! The cover is beautifully designed & to see your name on the front!!! Congratulations maggiemae.
Congratulations, Maggie, on the book! It was fun to think of #3 on your list Think I mentioned I'm retiring on Jan. 1. I had trouble getting so sleep last night and my 6 am alarm did not please me... Will be much better post retirement!
@happypat thank you Pat! I seem to have 13 put aside for people who said they wanted one, have posted 6 which only leaves me 11 to store for future orders!
How exciting having them delivered and what a great sense of satisfaction for you to see them. The cover is really attractive. I googled it and it's on kindle already! I prefer a real book and I am not certain that you get photos on kindle. Even better is going back to sleep when you have woken up a bit early!
@jennywren I don't know about the photos on kindle either. I like a book to handle, put down, flip over the pages to see something in advance etc. I do agree - waking early and wondering if you will ever get back to sleep!
This is really really really exciting! Congratulations on a wonderful looking set of them -- fun to see the final product. And the title looks like it was the one that was destined from the start -- perfect!
Ooh Maggiemae what a wonderful and exciting box of books --you must be so proud ,and to be able to share your success and your mother's diaries in this way -- the recipients should be very pleased with this piece of family history and your achievement !
I started reading mine the last time I brought the car for winterization. I'll bring it again on Wed. when we have some follow-up work done. It's been fun to read.
well done Miss Maggie
