I did have some mozzarella that I’ve learnt that if you keep it too long, it goes mouldy so I had to make a pizza.
Also in the fridge were some biersticks I’d had in the fridge…. used by date, 07.2003!! Don’t tell anyone but I put them on top of the pizza! Along with mushrooms, onions and parsley'
We have yet to find whether we survive the night!!
Three good things:
1. Connected my new Bluetooth boombox to Pandora Radio - best thing since sliced bread!
2. My SIL gave me an old recipe book for Xmas - “The Bird’s Eye book of British Favourite Recipes, published in 1964! Wow - some super good ideas here! Making parsnip cakes now! I’m doing ‘Banffshire potatoes tomorrow! But there are a lot of recipes with food fried in pans. The instructions say, “fairly hot oven” - whats that?
3. Lots of rain will make the farmers smile!
Gosh what a scrumptious looking pizza --I an drooling here !! so much better when its home made . with a couple of glasses of red wine to wash it down -- bonn appetite my friend !!!
Lots of good things in your photo......delicious looking pizza using lots of leftovers. Old recipes from a book I have never heard of....praise be perhaps I'm too young! Best of all nice welcome rain.....all in all a very good day plus I hope you are both still in one piece!
Looks very tasty! Hope you survived the night! Lol! I haven't heard of that cookbook but I remember Bird's Eye Custard - lovely! I think they still make it.
@summerfield Isn't that truely wicked, Vikki! Wicked food for wicked people! Yes, we are fine! Still got some left - might leave it for another 12 years!
LOL! You were my kind of girl! I love that you not only had something in your refrigerator for 12 years but that you went ahead and used it on your pizza!
This is truly an appealing composition too! Very beautiful with the wine glasses and the greenery!
Lovely composition and yummy looking pizza. How did it taste? My friend and I just had a discussion about dates on foods and she found an article about canned goods found in a 100-year-old ship that had sunk, and when tested, they found it was still safe to eat.
Wow, looks so yummy! Did you make it on the grill? Makes me want to get my pizza peel out too. Fun tool, isn't it? Pizza and wine - not much better than that!
Love your comment about outdated food products. It's one of my husband's pet peeves about our pantry...... I am noted for outdated goods and then using them months (years??) late. Do NOT feel alone! (And I'd eat your pizza. Sure does look good.) And I like the composition of this......
what on earth is a bierstick??? I can't believe you didn't invite us all over for dinner as this photo is just fabulous in the food-styling department.
1964 is such a good year...... it's the year I was born! lol :)
