I’m always hoping for a street photo and today I took this walking home.
Appreciative of this family walking to the supermarket, I did feel that family support is so evident here. Tiny girl obviously encouraged to bike as there is a bike that Dad is carrying had found it tough going uphill! Mum carries her and her helmet, Dad carries her bike, the groceries as well as the dog while older sister is having a ball on her bike!
Three good things;
1. I don’t have to carry the child on my hip as I did so often when they were young.
2. Another hot day and most welcome - sat outside reading “The Churchill Factor” by Boris Johnson around 8pm!
3. I won an auction on Trademe for a pair of Josef Siebel sandals.
@maree_sanderson I do it in HDR with three photos, Maree and then chose a painterly effect to produce it like this. Somewhat unreal for a photo but I like it!
I can't quite put my finger on the fascination of this photo - but it's there - it's definitely there - and the result is so much more than the usual family category.
@maggiemae ...is hdr high definition resolution?...sounds like a very interesting treatment...i'd love to learn how to do it...if you have time could you explain how you did it?...if you don't have time, no worries... :o)...and i LOVE this photo...reminds me of the work of artist D'arcy Doyle
@maree_sanderson No problem, Maree - you take three photos of the same scene under different light settings - your camera may be able to do this by itself. Then I use the programme Photomatix Essentials and put those three photos on. It then processes it and gives you lots of options where it changes the light, colour. You can choose the one that appeals to you the most! Its very easy!
@maggiemae ...thank you so much...this is bracketing yes?...my camera does that i think...i'll check the book...ps...i put this one up as my fav of other 365ers this week... :o)
@maree_sanderson Gee, thanks Maree! Its called bracketing yes and you can put more than 3 photos on it - up to 5 I think! Photoshop has similar processing but I find it hard to work out!
Your focus is spot on... you are right - if you can't get it mostly right in-camera, processing won't save you later. Love the tiny child, clinging to her mom's arm, along with the family grouping.
@maggiemae Maggie it was a fund racing night. We have a projector showing horse races and everyone bets with half the proceeds going to the club. The guy competing tells awful jokes which make us laugh and it's a good fun evening complete with fish and chips.
families should ask a photographer to trail them for a day and they would treasure these photos.
Maggiemae, I'm always so intrigued by this style in your processing. How on earth do you do it? Please share. :)
