Now we are in Wales and setting off on a trail to follow my mother footsteps from 1929 as in her diary that I transcribed and turned into the book which is on my lap. This is Maenan Abbey Hotel and is in Llanrwst near Betws-y-Coed. Fascinating place - if I was a child I would be exploring all the staircases and running down the hallways!
Three good things;
1. Although John has had a re-occurance of chest infection we have been able to have a doctors visit and antibiotics etc prescribed at no cost!
2. A piano playing teddybear.
3. Cat in the bar, cat on the landing, cat in the hallway.
A beautiful building built in the stone of N Wales and looking prestine and so strong Hope you will enjoy the journey in the footsteps of your mother in N.Wales I hope the weather will be kind to you and John's chest infection will improve soon !
@gamelee I have to agree with you, Lee - I choose one on my computer and modify it to tone it down but then when I post it here its far too much I think!
Oh how cool that you are following your mother's footsteps. I was thinking of checking out some of the places she visited when we are in UK in September too. Very special for you. Enjoy and I hope John feels better very soon.
Love your edit of this grand hotel! You must feel quite emotional following in your mothers footsteps Maggie & must feel she is walking with you! Hope John continues to improve!
Lovely capture of an interesting place. I often think it would have been lovely to have lived in one of these great houses in the olden days, although I wouldn't like the upkeep. I will look forward to making your mothers journey with you through your pictures.
Wow, what a wonderful thing to be able to do, Maggiemae, follow your Mom's footsteps. Such a beautiful place to spend time as a child and now for you as an adult. I am sorry to hear about John but great he is able to get meds for free to help him. I have Asthma and horrible allergies. Been miserable for over a week so finally using a nasal spray and hoping it helps as I was told within a few days to a week. Take care of you and sorry I am behind. Great place to pick up and hopefully keep up with you. FAV
Wow you're in Wales. What an amazing trip this has been. It must be so exciting to see the places your Mum wrote about in her diary, what a special feeling to then see them yourself along with her commentary.
Apparently they like cats? How fabulous it will be to see pictures of the places your mother visited. I will have to go back and cross-reference now that I have the photos.
Lovely shot and tones - Pleased you are enjoying your visit to my neck of the woods - and must be thrilling to follow in your mothers steps and to see places that haven't changed that much. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
