Western Trail by maggiemae

Western Trail

Walking for 20 minutes was necessary for various reasons. I was looking for a photo that would give the right contrast for a B&W.

This young lady walked past me on this cycling track and brightly said hello! I think she was a bit nervous as I had my camera in front of me.

Three good things:
1. Our Latvian motorbiking couple looked us up in Oamaru and came to visit. Latvia has a bit of history with NZ!
2. Turned our Xmas lights on which involved just plugging in - the lights have been around for a year!!
3. Sent a rose photo to the provincial paper for a competition. They rang me up - ‘a stunning photo’! Maybe I might win a prize - some chocolate!
Really love the edit and the mood added by the woman. Nice work, Maggiemae!!!

@happysnaps Its actually a bike trail, Valerie and goes for about 3km down this part! Very quiet and rural.

Good luck with the Rose! This looks just like our Jo on one of her runs! People are nervous if cameras, you would think you had a gun in your hand! His friendly of the Latvian couple, you must have been very welcoming!

@happypat They were motorbikers and of course wanted to hear more about John's father. But they were a nice couple!

I think you've nailed the B&W contrast bit. Interesting capture. Fav

@tonydebont Thanks Tony - however I do feel cityscapes and portraits do better in B&W.

Great shot, you creeper! Ha ha ha! And, congrats on your recognition! Hope you win the chocolate! :)

@juliedduncan I was creeping, Julie - on all fours- I had previously hurt my back and now couldn't get up! For all you know - I'm still out there on the trail in a crouch position!

Lovely shot and processing. Congratulations on the success of your rose photo.

@daisymiller It hasn't been judged yet. It was supposed to have a story attached but I didn't have one. I could have made one up I suppose but thats cheating!

@maggiemae Well, make the most of it! LOL! ;)

@digitalrn She did look around a lot further up the trail! Probably wondered why I was taking photos!

A great image - love the way the path leads your eye into the subject.

congrats. I like the way her shirt is so white against the rest of the landscape.

not long and winding or yellow brick, but a nice road scene.
