I’m so pleased I found out another good attribute on my camera! I could have read the 200 page manual but relied on the great PDF where I could search a word. This word was macro but it was the focus bit I was pleased to read. On the front of the camera is a switch. There was “Focus Lock’, Direct Manual Focus and Manual focus. Choosing MF you could use the front manual ring to fine tune the focus. I did this and got this big draught horse shot.
Three good things:
1. Walking the cycle trail alongside was this big horse way over the fence. I rested my camera on a fence post and practiced this focus. He had his head up and his ears pricked - probably never seen a photographer in a purple sports outfit!
2. I must read more of the manual.
3. Right punctuation.
You have so much patience Maggie! I never read the instructions until all else fails! It means you get every ounce of choices for your photos. Works beautifully!
That is such perfect focus on his head. Beautiful photo. It does feel good to discover something new on your camera, or in my case to rediscover things that I have forgotten!!
What a handsome chap. I've never read my camera manual other than bits and bobs that I needed to find out at the time. Always used manual focus too. I can't cope with the camera taking control in auto ;) xx
