This scene was so familiar to us when we lived just up the road. 15 years of experience which included floods… water going over this curving dam which was built…The archway dam was first built by Louis Schmoll, a German immigrant, in about 1870 to service the flour mill he was building. More strength with the curve.
It lost its use with reasons I cannot google.
Anyway this is the northern look from the road bridge which has never changed for a long time.
Three good Things;
1. A visit with friends who still own half the river on their edge - before the Queen’s Chain law came in.
2. No fire tonight -quite warm… but then its so hot in bed at nights… feet and elbows out!
3. Used a slight artistic finish for this photo.
@grammyn The publicly reserved land that exists alongside most waterways and the coast is commonly referred to as the 'Queen's Chain'. Cannot be privately owned.
HAPPY NEW YEAR MAGGIEMAE!
