This SOOC shot was taken down in the harbor area of town. The moon was nearly full while the fog slowly creaps out the river and toward the ocean. It was freezing cold and began to fog my lens on the next shots. Beautiful, beautiful night ... the only sound was the gulls talking to each other.
@kerristephens
Thank you Kerri - the 13 second exposure felt like 30 seconds. I didn't have my tripod so I was resting it on a rail trying not to move.

Maybe I get really excited about things in the sky! The last time I felt about one of my shots that I do about this one was the SOOC of Sun Spikes and Waves in January. When I saw this on my computer I was so happy with the result - kinda like making a 60 foot putt for a birdie!
@pengu1n
We were on a third floor condo with a flat rail. Plus I have my tripod bracket on my camera all the time so that was a flat spot to hold the camera in a still position.
@trbo
Thank you Travis - I am so happy with all the different colors and elements in the photo. Kind of like sinking a 60 foot putt! @balkaj
Josh, the colors and lighting came from a higher power - I was at the right place at the right time. This was SOOC. I almost broke out a glass of bubbly when I pulled it up on my computer! @hobgoblinwychwo
John, you made me chuckle! Thank you for the compliment and the chuckle. @mimo
Thank you so much Mimo. @kim11472
Such a nice compliment Kim. This project has been such a gift! It has helped center me and reminded me of how life can fly by and we wonder where it went ... taking a photo a day is like having little forced vacations.
@callalilla
Kimberly, it's so cool you found what you did in the photo ... an eerieness. I see that now that you mention it. @jaimelewis
Jaime, I loved following you and am glad to see you comment, but I miss seeing your photos - hope all is well.
@seattle@luckygirl WOW - NOW I feel like it wasn't a 60 foot putt for a Birdie but a hole-in-one! My "thank you" is sincere and because I follow both of you and am so taken in by your "photographic eyes" I will be walking a little bit lighter today!
@mamabec I agree!! I've enjoyed and learned so much from this project already, and it is a gift to me also!! It makes me notice the beauty in everyday things that I normally would not. I love mini vacations daily:-)
When I first saw the image, I thought HDR - and it was cool. Then I saw your SOOC note, and I am amazed. The fact that you managed a 13 second exposure without a tripod - even though you had the railing to brace on - is quite impressive; even the slightest muscle twitch would have ruined the shot. Very nice!
@yungingr
On an added note - I keep my tripod foot on my camera all the time. That way I can slip it onto my tripod at any time. However, my tripod was at home in my car- not in my husband's. The foot is flat, the rail was flat and metal, plus I held my breath. - same for the Sitting in the Dock of Bay Street.

Thank you for the compliment of o FAV!
Thank you so much Carly. This is the river that runs through the edge of my town and into the Pacific Ocean.

Thank you all so much. I am loving this learning process and the discovery of what my eye is drawn to.
