We participated in the Whitman County Relay for Life last night (Marvin is a survivor of prostate cancer) and I took photos of some of the luminarias that are particularly meaningful to us. This collage represents Marvin, his Dad (Pete), and his brother (Bob). The Grandpas, Bud and Bob, are the grandpas of our little great-niece and -nephew, who lost both of their grandpas to cancer. Also, our niece (Bud's daughter) is the chairman of this event.
@digitalrn@peterdegraaff@deburahiru@grammyn@netkonnexion@mstipe@wannabe Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your kind comments. I have to say that I did not personally make any of the luminarias... we "ordered" them through the donations we made on line to our niece, nephew, great-niece, and great-nephew. One of the co-chairs of the event made all the ones that were donated online... she also happens to be Bud's (Grandpa Bud) widow and the mother of the chairperson. The Grandpa ones were made by Bud's daughter/Bob's daughter-in-law and the pictures on those are all family photos. Very moving to see...
It's very moving at night when the light the luminarias; sometimes in Florence (Oregon coast) where we do ours, a light fog rolls in and lends a mysterious and slightly spooky air to the event.
Another lovely tribute,
