Theeeze are 2 of the flock of Long Tailed Tits (Aegithalos caudatus) that visit my bird feeders. I think, because they never stay still long enough to count, that there is around 10 this year. It was a bigger flock last Winter. They seem to visit several feeders with different foods, but this lump of cheeeze appears really popular. There are sometimes 6 birds all squabbling over it.
A fabulous photograph, Mark. I know that Robins like a bit of cheese but I am always a bit wary of putting an out because of the high salt content. I stick to putting out beef suet these days and the little birdies demolish that like it is going out of fashion. Actually... who is to say that it isn't horse suet, given the current food scare!
@trenaspics Thanks Trena, yes I think they are cute little characters.
@steampowered Thanks Paul, they have got a beef / horse suet as well, and you would think that the little white pellets are just beak sized for them, but they seem to enjoy pecking away at the big lump. There is also grated cheese available, they must want the exercise.
