Wild dogwood trees... Best viewed large if you have the time.
I have tried to capture landscapes showing all the bits of white I can see in my woods from the deck and the edge of the fence, but they never come out. I have so many dogwoods growing wild back there, it looks like it's snowing when they're in full bloom. This small token is the best I can do unless someone can tell me what I need to do to capture the biggest portion of it.
Beautifully Captured! I know what you are saying i have a field of the most beautiful purple flowers right now and i am having the same problem with the capture!! Do we need to be using a wide angle lens maybe??? Mine just broke but maybe you have a chance!!
It's like peeking through a hole into a "magic garden!" I love this POV and it's fun to imagine about what's behind the beautiful wooded branches. Gorgeous capture, Maggie!!
@kerristephens Thank you so much, Kerri! Appreciate you!
@sugarmuser Thank you, Sharon! It really isn't what I wanted to capture.
@ellimae I can shoot wide and crop but, the whites in the blossoms just get too small to be seen the way they're seen with the eye. I guess it's because they're in the woods. I can't shoot them from in the woods because it's not the same view. Oiy! I don't know what to do. Thank you for your lovely comments, Ellen! Always appreciate your visits!
@beckys They're pretty, aren't they? Especially when they're in full bloom at Easter time. Thank you, Becky!
@papalima Never thought of it that way! Thank you, Patti! Appreciate your comments and visit!
@karenann Aww! Thank you, Karen! I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments, as always! Really frustrated with this one though. Was NOT what I was going for at all. I'm a little tired of macros right now! LOL! And thank you for viewing it large cause it does look much better that way.
I've been frustrated similarly with my favorite redbuds! They are delicate and usually interspersed with a lot of "noisy" trees that detract from the focus being on them. I guess the point is that they brighten up the otherwise woodsy noisy browns. :-)
@msk1p2 Thank you, Sandra! Really appreciate your comments and visit!
@kdei Appreciate that comment, Kim! Thank you very much!
@lindag Doesn't seem to be a way to capture them properly with a camera. Maybe we'll figure it out one way or another, Linda! Thank you for the comments and visit! Always appreciated!
@loragill LOL! I love those 500 piece puzzles! Thank you, Lora! Always appreciate your comments and visit!
@wannabe It's just a tiny section though, Catherine. I wanted the big picture but, I can't have it. =( Oh well! Thank you for your kind comments! Always enjoy your visit!
@lorihiro LOL! Thank you, ma'am! Appreciate your sweet comments and visit!
What an incredible tangle of branches. It's like nature is trying to keep you from invading a secret place. Until I read the caption, I thought I was looking at sunlight sparkling off a stream.
Here's something you might try - step far back from the scene and use a longer focal length to focus on the petals and let the branches become a blur. Experiment with your ISO and f-stop to get more DOF. Season to taste. :)
Fantastic shot. Love how it is what is in the distance that is the subject of the shot. The white blossom's contrast with the branches adds interest to the picture. Nice!!
Never heard of dogwoods before but considering I love dogs and woods - they definitely appeal to me. Love tangled/strangled look - love the dainty white flowers - such a contrast. Not sure if it will work, but what if you took a pic with some of the white flowers in focus in the foreground and let the tangledness of branches and a few flowers become the background..... means you might have to do some bundu-bashing but it might be worth it ;)
@myautofocuslife Aww! Thank you, Livia! Such sweet comments. Always enjoy reading them and appreciate your visit!
@groovygirlrn Your comments are so lovely, Sheri! Thank you! You make me feel a little better about my disappointment with this shot! Appreciate your visit!
@beteljooz Thank you for your kind comments, George! Always appreciated. I will try what you have suggested and see if it will work. I can get distance, it's just that the white petals end up getting lost in the rest of the tree noise. My camera just may not be suited for such a shot.
@redrucksack Thank you, Eva! Always enjoy reading your lovely comments and appreciate your visit!
@purdey Aww! Thank you, Sharon! You say the sweetest things! Makes me feel better about my disappointing endeavor here. =)
@cjnoes Thank you! Really do appreciate your time to view and comment on my pic!
Beautiful! Trees are hard to capture - I've run into the same problem when trying to capture forest images. I think it's because with the human eye, we're constantly adjusting focus and depth, but with a camera, we have to choose one focal point... I'm not explaining this well at all, but basically I think we can focus selectively on one type of thing in person, but the camera dictates our visual focal point in a photo.
@thebluegnu Thank you for the kind comments and suggestions! I'll give it a try and see what I can do. Really appreciate your time to view and comment on my pic!

@phil_howcroft LOL! The trees are very tall. The leaves are further up but dogwood trees don't grow very high. That's okay. Will have to try again next year. Thank you for the visit and your comments, Phil. Always appreciated very much!
@sugarmuser Thank you, Sharon! It really isn't what I wanted to capture.

In the UK our trees are starting to look great.
I cannot resolve your dilemma of capturing the 'snowing blooms' !!!
@binny Thank for for that lovely comment! Appreciate that, Binny!
@pammerritt That was the general idea. Glad you could see it that way! Thank you for your kind comments and visit, Pam! Always appreciated!
