Sparkleberry Farkleberry... by marlboromaam

Sparkleberry Farkleberry...

Yep! Those are its common names. NOT to be confused with the deerberry, but also in the blueberry plant family. Another wild and native plant in South Carolina. AKA, Vaccinium arboreum, it's leaves are very waxy and shimmer in the sunlight. Unlike the deerberry, which grows lower to the ground and mainly in the shade - this one across the road from my house is about 20 feet tall! A very old shrub or tree, by that height! Also, please don't confuse it with a "dewberry" or "blackberry" which are VERY thorny. Will have more shots of this plant to follow.

What a name, it sounds almost fictitious.. I can't put my finger on it but its most probably similar to something that may be found deep within the pages of a Terry Pratchett Novel. Nice DOF again, not quite as nice as yesterdays though but that was really, very nice!
