Really a little nicer if you will enlarge to view. Wild blackberries! Not ripe yet, but soon! This isn't the sharpest shot and I wanted to zoom more, but with a car coming up behind me, I had to move on.
@maggiemae They have everything imaginable growing around, through and in them. They're wild but, I'll see all kinds of people along the roadside picking them when they're ready and ripe. Love blackberry cobbler the best!
@maggiemae Forgot to say that they're growing about the stretch of a mile along the roadside! Hope the county doesn't mow the roadsides until they've all been picked!
@purdey They will come up almost every where around here! Between the dewberries, blackberries and greenbriar, I have way too many thorny wild things around here! LOL!
Great drive by shot and a great find, Maggie. I hope you are being careful as you drive and look for things to shoot. I love blackberries. I hope you get to enjoy some, are they in a place to pick them?
Not blackberries!!! Oh my god, these are my favorite. Every year, we go up to Oregon to visit family. I get to fly fish and gorge myself with blackberries. After seeing this pic, I can't stop my mouth from watering.
@beckys Thank you, Becky! No, especially while you're watching for rattlers and copperheads!
@darsphotos I am being careful, Darlene! Appreciate your kind comments, as always! Well, yes and no. The weeds are high! Hard to see the snakes that love to hide in the briars! Hugs!
@cindyrez These are wild blackberries, Cindy. I haven't seen any raspberries around here. Probably too hot for them in this part of South Carolina. My grandparents grew them on their farm in the Smoky Mountains though. They grew the red and the gold raspberries. Loved those, too. Thank you for your kind comments, as always!
@kdimagery Thank you, Kd! The growth is really thick on the side of the road.
@meisen325 I'll bet you do, Monica! Thank you for your kind comments!
great looking crop of berries coming up! when that happens here, all along the road there are cars parked and families with buckets plucking them to take home to eat. you shoot 'em, they eat 'em
@ellimae LOL! They aren't ripe yet. Don't know if I want to risk a snake bite in that tall stuff either. You're looking that stuff at about 5 feet tall! Thank you, Ellen! Appreciate your comments!
@vickisfotos LOL! Yep, happens here, too! Just have to watch for snakes! Thank you, Vicki!
@veekay Thank you very much, Vicki! Appreciate your kind comments!
It looks really beautiful when I view it large. Great details, and I love the light and DOF. The photo does have a dreamy quality to it that makes it very attractive. 8)
That's one thing I miss living up North. When I was a kid I looked fwd to berry picking with my dad. Even today, if I was driving by a field of blackberries or raspberries I'd be right out there pickin' away. My mom used to bake the best berry pies. The prices in the grocery stores are insane ;-) Your photo brought back such pleasant memories.
Beautiful tribute to noticing the details! And - don't you hate it when someone comes up behind you and forces you to stop taking photos?! Don't they know that stretch of the road belongs to you??
I also love blackberries.
And I hate it when I am trying to take a shot like that and my husband says he has to move the car......not fair. Good shot - and now I want blackberries.....
