British Soldiers Lichen

These tiny lichens are known as British Soldiers because of their bright red caps resembling red coats of colonial times. They are stunning and fascinating to read and learn about. They are a marriage between a fungus and an algae.
Wow are they ever colorful. where do they grow?

How very colourful and with a great name. Not, of course, the soldiers that you dip into your lightly boiled egg!

@laurentye They are cool. I shot them years earlier for 365 but didn't get a photo like this one. I posted one of them with a nickel too, so you could see how tiny they really are.
