My goal this year was to work on the selective focus technique. Mainly, focusing on what's behind the blurred portion in the front. Another way to add mood and mystery to an image. I have fallen down on the job here. I think this only makes two in my albums.
@ryan161 Thank you so much, Ryan! I'm sure you've seen selective focus images where the foreground is all blurry and something in the background is in focus. Yes? My focus was on the tree trunk but, there wasn't enough foreground to blur here.
You could try getting closer to the branch in the foreground to throw it more out of focus or use a telephoto lens instead of wide angle… that might give you more blur in the foreground.
